I studied horticulture at Shuttleworth College in Bedfordshire for 4 years. The course covered some design but I decided that I wanted  to further my knowledge and so went on to spend another year studying garden design. On leaving college I became self employed and started work as a groundsman in a large country manor in Bedfordshire with some general garden maintenance on my days off elsewhere.

As my work continued, I became more focused on plants and design, so I decided to leave grounds keeping and start up my own garden maintenace and design business. It was Being involved in RHS Show gardens that encouraged me to start out on my own as it is a remarkable experience that can only be gained from actually being there on site.

I concider myself a plantsman and try to include interesting and unusual species within the planting schemes.

After 5 years of working part time with another gardener, I left and became a full time garden designer and still have regular maintenance clients within Bedfordshire as I live in rural Kempston. I cover many types of gardens from small courtyards to large gardens.
