The building and land were purchased in a rather sorry state. I was called in to turn the original buildings carpark into something alittle more interesting and also to plant a hedge that will soon add to the security. I started when the land had mostly been gravelled apart form the areas that were to be lawn and bed. The neighbours suffered a bad fire to one of their sheds and so this meant more work was needed. The soil was heavy clay and so a huge amount of organic compost was added to break up the thick, heavy, wet clay

The border side border runs along the entire 40 meter boundary. Planted with Pyracantha to act as an eventual prickly hedge and underplanted with pink and white flowering Hebe, their own idea as they are the companies corporate colours.

The lawn (mostly used for staff lunch breaks) at the back of the building is approx. 10 x 10 meters. The soil was full of rubble, unlevel and needed alot of work to get up to the quality required for turfing. The wall was built to stop the lawn being driven over by cars and adds interest to the otherwise large flat area of gravel and the fence had to be replaced due to the above mentioned neighbouring fire.

The front lawn, Laurels and Hebe cope well with the winter wet and with the salt spray from the gritted roads. Again the soil was full of rubble, unlevel and heavy clay.
